Journey Nicholl Fuentes Sais

Who knew being named after the infamous band ‘Journey’ would pay off as much as it has? Thanks mom!

I’m from a small West Texas town called Andrews. I was a small-town girl, living in a lonely world. No midnight trains, just oil rigs, and dust storms. I was adopted and raised by my grandparents, Salvador & Louisa Sais. From an early age, they instilled in me the values of hard work, compassion, and openness. It is them I owe everything <3

I now live in Austin and am in my senior year at The University of Texas. I first majored in Political Communication with the intention of going to law school, but I listened to my gut and added Advertising as my second major. Best decision ever! I now get to mix my passion for advocacy with my creative problem-solving skills.

My identity and navigation through the world as a Queer Mexican have shaped my ethics and values. A way I display that is by advocating and organizing for marginalized communities through UT’s Senate. My dream is to represent Queer Latinos in Advertising and politics.

I am 22 years old, born 7/7. For fun, I play the bass, thrift, or indulge in a new hobby. Bratz taught me from an early age that fashion is how you express yourself, and I take pride in how I style myself as a plus-sized person. I’m a proud cat mom of one cat, her name is Steve after Minecraft Steve.

Overall I like to have fun, be silly, and make others smile.

In which direction are we headed?
